On January 1st, 2018, Vogel once again hosted people from all across the metroplex and beyond for the best party of the year – Day 1 Dallas at Fair Park!
This year’s event, our third, was the best to date. Over the course of the years, we have adjusted and improved upon the event. New this year, we condensed 99% of our activities into the Centennial Building. This made the festive atmosphere even better and helped everyone stay out of the intense cold!
Attendees this year were treated to a completely free event, a change from year’s past. We decided that this change would attract more people and be a great way to say “Thank you” to the community that has supported our organization and mission for the past 30 years.
Before the doors even opened to the event at 3pm, we had attendees arriving and excited to play. Once the doors opened, all of our sponsors were amazed to see more the crowds filling the building and having a great time.

Although we were experiencing the coldest day in recent history, more than 12,000 attendees attended Day 1 Dallas. At 7 pm, all attendees populated the Court of Honor and the Esplanade to view the firework show. Day 1 Dallas’ firework show is unique in that it is choreographed to popular children’s music and you sit “under” the fireworks as they launch off three surrounding buildings. Once again, the fireworks did not disappoint. The fireworks, powered by Oncor, were the perfect culmination to a day of games, excitement and entertainment.
