Celebrating the Week of the Young Child

Date

vogel-kids-2016-49The Week of the Young Child is an annual event celebrating early learning, young children and teachers and families. The week of April 11-15, our Vogel children enjoyed special themes and activities including Taco Tuesday, Build Together Wednesday, Artsy Thursday and Family Friday. Then on Saturday, we took a field trip to the Trinity River Audubon Center for a special Celebrate Birds event.

Individual classes engaged in additional activities to reinforce our Week of the Young Child themes, such as building an herb garden, making T-shirts, painting using spray bottles and creating their own Mexican restaurant complete with real guacamole, paper tacos and lemonade. The children also did a flower study and painted flowers. Their paintings were used to make a collage that will be auctioned off at a benefit.

Every week, the children at Vogel receive high-quality care to support their physical, intellectual and emotional development. But the Week of the Young Child is a special time to acknowledge some of the simple joys of being a kid – wearing PJs to school, doing messy art projects, building with big blocks and dancing to fun music – activities that all children deserve to experience.
