Bella's Story

All children are special. And the youngest ones can remind us of just how fragile their world can be.

Baby Bella is a new addition to the Vogel Alcove family. Her mother, Brandi, is a survivor of domestic violence. Together, they live in a women’s shelter. Bella’s dad has been in and out of their lives and does not offer consistent support.

Brandi’s past includes struggles with addiction and legal difficulties, which makes it hard for her to find gainful employment.

In her short time at Vogel Alcove, Bella is thriving.

She has learned to walk and her excited babbles can be heard in the halls. Teachers trained in trauma-informed care have guided Bella in her growth. In addition, Brandi has worked with her Vogel Alcove social worker to heal from her personal pain.

Through your generosity, you help give a voice to the youngest victims of homelessness, including children like Bella, who are too young to understand the trauma they are facing.

As Vogel Alcove celebrates its 35-year anniversary, we are reminded of the thousands of children the organization has helped with our community’s support.
